Buy Versace Dylan Blue. It is the only one of the three you can wear to work, to dinner and in July, and it keeps the loud Versace projection while dialling the sugar back. Buy Eros instead if you want a sweet, enormous night-out fragrance and have somewhere to wear it; buy Eros Flame only as a third bottle, for cold evenings, once you already know you like the house.
Why these three get cross-shopped
Versace sells all three at roughly the same shelf position, the bottles look related, and the names suggest a family they do not really form. In practice they are three different propositions:
- Eros — mint and green apple over a huge vanilla-tonka base. Sweet, young, enormous. A great night-out scent and a genuinely poor office one.
- Dylan Blue — a fresh woody-aromatic with a faintly ambery base. Same brand loudness, far less sugar, usable all year.
- Eros Flame — black pepper and rosemary over woody vanilla, with the toothpaste-mint blast of the original removed. Warmer, spicier, wears several years older, cold weather only.
None of them is subtle. If you want a Versace that behaves like a skin scent, that bottle does not exist, and you should be looking at our office ranking instead.
How they compare on paper
Concentrations and families come from the live Amazon listings and the published note structures. The performance figures are our rubric scores, compiled from owner and community reports rather than measured in a lab — the method is on how we pick and score.
| Bottle | Concentration | Scent family | Sillage / projection | Versatility | Best season |
|---|
| Dylan Blue | EDT | Fresh / woody aromatic | 7 / 7 | 8 | Year-round |
| Eros | EDT | Fresh / gourmand | 9 / 9 | 6 | Fall & winter |
| Eros Flame | EDP | Spicy / woody | 8 / 8 | 6 | Fall & winter |
Eros vs Dylan Blue: the decision most people are making
Eros is the better fragrance in exactly one situation: a loud, dark, crowded room where you want to be smelled from the other side of it. It has the highest sillage and projection scores of anything in this comparison, the value per spray is genuinely absurd for the performance, and it is fun in a way Dylan Blue never tries to be.
Dylan Blue is the better fragrance in every other situation. The sweetness that makes Eros a liability at 9am is pulled back into a woody-aromatic shape with a slightly ambery base, and the result is something you can wear to a meeting without apologising for it. On our rubric it scores 8 for versatility against Eros's 6, and that gap is the whole argument.
If you own one bottle, it should be Dylan Blue. If you own two, the second one is Eros and you keep it for evenings — the same logic we apply in how many colognes you actually need, where the answer is a versatile daily driver first and a loud one second.
Where Eros Flame fits, and where it does not
Flame is not a stronger Eros, which is what the name implies to most buyers. It is a different composition that removes the mint blast and replaces it with black pepper and rosemary over woody vanilla, in EDP concentration. Owners describe it as reading several years older than the original, which is accurate and is the main reason to want it.
The problem is overlap. Flame is a cold-weather, evening fragrance, and so is Eros. Buying both means owning two loud winter bottles and nothing for daylight — which is how fragrance collections go wrong. If Flame is the one you want, buy it instead of Eros, not alongside it, and pair it with something fresh. Our guide to flankers explains why lines like this one keep multiplying and how to read the names.
The thing to check before you buy any of them
All three are high-volume bottles, and high-volume bottles are the ones counterfeiters target. Read the full listing title rather than trusting the photograph, check the volume on the listing against the price, and run the checks in spot a fake cologne if anything about the offer looks unusually good. Our notes on buying this category online are in is Amazon cologne real.
Which one to buy
If you need one bottle that does everything
Dylan Blue, at three sprays. It is the only one of the three with the range to cover a working day and an evening, and the ambery base keeps it from reading generic. It also appears in our 2026 ranking for that reason.
If you are buying for a night out specifically
Eros, at two sprays, and no more than two. The projection score of 9 is not a compliment to apply generously with — the common complaint about this fragrance is dose, not composition. The wider evening field is in best date-night colognes, and the direct comparison people most often make with Eros is in Eros vs Le Male.
If you are under 25 and this is your first bottle
Eros is the one your friends will recognise and Dylan Blue is the one that will still be right in five years. We would buy Dylan Blue, but it is a close call at that age and there is no wrong answer — both are on our college ranking.
If cold-weather evenings are the whole use case
Eros Flame, and skip the other two. It is the most seasonally specific bottle here and the one that rewards being bought for a purpose rather than as a default. For the broader winter field, including warmer and cheaper options, see best winter colognes and best spicy colognes.
